Sustainable Design Insights for the Built Environment

Developing tools that integrate sustainability into design practice at early project stages.

Solar Heating Buildings

About Us

Our Ideas

Our Mission

At (embrace ideas), we are dedicated to empowering the development of more sustainable buildings. By leveraging contemporary technology with traditional passive design techniques, we provide tangible, implementable data and design advice that can  reduce the energy needs of buildings and passively create more comfortable user environments. Instead of spending hours gathering climate data and waiting on feedback from consultants at early project phases, with just a few clicks we give you project-specific design advice that is easily interpretable by individuals without technical expertise.

Our goal is to make sustainability an integrated part of building design instead of an afterthought.

Adjusting a Model

Our Values

We strongly believe that more sustainable design is achievable by everyone, regardless of project budget and ambitions. Information and tools which facilitate these designs should be transparent and easily accessible to all developers, building owners, architects, and other design professional- not limited to large firms and projects with big budgets and specialist teams.

Sustainability and the Built Environment

Why It Matters

37%

Annual global greenhouse gas emissions contributed by the built environment.

55%

Target European Union emissions reductions by 2030, in comparison to 1990 emissions levels.

7 of 9

Planetary Boundaries (environmental tipping points) exceeded as of September 2025.

25-50%

Anticipated minimum operational energy use reduction when passive design strategies are implemented.
As developers, designers, builders, and building owners, we have and outsized role to play in reducing the climate impact of the built environment.

There is no harm- and potential cost savings- when implementing sustainable design solutions early in projects.

What we are developing

Our Services

embrace structures is a small consulting firm with the network, skills, and ability to efficiently complete projects of all scales. We provide bespoke structural design solutions and design review services at all phases of projects, from early concept through value engineering to construction. With experience designing buildings and “other structures” in over 30 countries, we understand that embracing structure - in all its possible forms - is part of what makes good architecture possible. Even if you never see the finished structural element.

climate4buildings is a platform that brings climate and energy insights into the early stages of architectural projects. It translates complex environmental data into clear, actionable guidance, helping architects, urban planners and engineers make informed decisions from the very beginning. Validating design decisions as they are made, rather than checking them afterwards.

Friends on a Bench

Local Climate Data

We summarize local climate data such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind directionality and intensity. Combined, this information provides a powerful basis for providing actionable suggestions related to enhancing occupant comfort both inside and outside of buildings.
