About the Role
We are seeking a motivated full-stack developer with a strong interest in climate change and climate data who wants to contribute to the development of our Climate + Energy platform. We are looking for someone who can:
• Work with the Lead Developer and a team of built-environment professionals to further development of our SaaS platform.
• Take ownership of aspects of the platform for which you have responsibility. This could include individual modules- such as the incorporation of future climate prediction datasets; development of modules related to solar/wind/geothermal energy generation potential; development of a mobile app; etc.
• Work closely with the Climate4Buildings team to regularly review and set timelines, milestones, determine ‘must have’ vs. ‘need-to-have’ items, and generally integrate the technical development with the overall project timeline and direction.
• Contribute to the product vision and future development, including potential development of future additional related products.
• Work closely with the CEO/Founder and Lead Developer to lay the foundation for building a larger technical team in future phases.
Requirements
• Strong full-stack or backend development experience.
• Prior experience in early-stage startups and/or SaaS environments.
• Excellent English and Spanish communication skills (C1) required. Catalan desirable.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution.
• Familiarity with the climate data, climate science, and/or sustainability desirable but not required.
• Familiarity with the built environment (building engineering background or experience, architecture background or experience, etc.) desirable but not required.
About the Company
We are an early-stage ClimateTech startup working on lowering the emissions footprint of the built environment by making data regarding climate more easily available and interpretable to design and development professionals (architects, building developers, building owners, engineers, etc.). How a building or project responds to local climatic conditions can have a major impact on energy use and user comfort, and we believe that data regarding local climate and associated design suggestions as based on these conditions should be available to designers internationally.
We are funding our early-stage startup work via consulting work in structural engineering, and we have an eye on developing additional tools and/or platforms which can make the design industry more efficient and/or sustainable. Our consulting work is founded on a strong commitment to sustainability, and we assess greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts when making decisions regarding materiality, construction techniques, and so on. We think principles of circularity in building design and construction should be the basis for as many projects as possible.
Full-time, indefinite contract, with flexible home/office work policy, based in Barcelona, Spain.
